Embark on an immersive and instructive street photography journey in the heart of Tokyo during Japan’s Golden Week this spring, led by NYC Street Photographer and founder of NYC-SPC, Jorge Garcia (@PhotosbyJorge_).
With nearly a decade of experience capturing the essence of New York City's vibrant streets, Jorge has honed a unique style and energy in his photography. His keen eye has been finely tuned amidst the dynamic backdrop of one of the world's most diverse cities. Now, Jorge invites you to join him as he shares his wealth of knowledge, techniques, and insights cultivated over years of dedicated practice.
Throughout the workshop, Jorge will not only teach technical skills but also delve into the artistic nuances that define his distinct approach to street photography. From composition and lighting to storytelling and capturing authentic moments, participants will have the opportunity to learn from Jorge's seasoned perspective and develop their own creative vision.

An additional Zoom Group Critique session will be held after the workshop ends.

Visit Tokyo and immerse yourself in the culture of photography alongside a group of fellow street photographers from around the world. Jorge Garcia will share his style and techniques, refined on the streets of New York City.
This immersive 5-day workshop will offer the unique hands on experience of capturing moments in Tokyo’s busiest neighborhoods, coupled with discussions, analyses, and critiques of photographs. Jorge will provide individual critiques and feedback on the emerging themes in your work, as well as potential directions for creating a larger body of images.
Build a network of fellow street shooters who can offer feedback long after the workshop concludes. Each evening, we’ll continue our in-depth conversations over dinner and drinks, delving into the philosophy and practice of street photography.
Day 1 - Thursday, May 2nd - 5 pm to 9 pm: Meet and Greet/Opening Lecture
The group will gather at Jorge’s apartment in Odaiba for an evening meet-and-greet plus an opening lecture by Jorge. Students will receive warm-up homework to shoot during the day before meeting in Odaiba.
Day 2 - Friday, May 3rd - 12 pm to 8 pm: Photography discussion and group critique over coffee followed by an afternoon of shooting.
Shooting Location: Shinjuku and Kabuki-chō
Day 3 - Saturday, May 4th - 12 pm to 8 pm: Shooting during the day and discussion in the evening.
Shooting Locations: Shibuya
Day 4 - Sunday, May 5th - 12 pm to 6 pm: Morning/afternoon shooting followed by a group discussion and dinner.
Shooting Locations: Ginza
Day 5 - Date TBD: 4 hour group editing and critique session over Zoom.
This workshop is intended for photographers of all levels who are interested in walking outside, photographing people, and immersing themselves in the culture of Tokyo. Cameras will not be provided.
For those visiting Tokyo, Jorge can offer recommendations for accommodations conveniently located near the workshop’s shooting locations. A Tokyo Guide PDF will be provided to those who register for the class. Jorge’s Tokyo Guide will include hotel recommendations, information on getting around, obtaining a SIM card, internet access, and more.
A laptop will be needed on Sunday for downloading images from your camera to edit and review.
Jorge Garcia (www.photosbyjorge.com) is the founder of NYC-SPC, Contact Photo, and a freelance photographer who has contributed to NY Mag, Vogue, Vice.com, Konbini.com, Airbnb Travel, AFAR Magazine, and has been featured in various publications. His work has been exhibited in New York, San Francisco, London, and Frosinone, Italy.

Attendance is limited to a maximum of 10 participants.
Workshop Fee: $675
Rescheduling or Cancellations: Dates and times are subject to change. Jorge Garcia and NYC-SPC reserve the right to cancel or postpone workshops and classes. Students will receive a refund or credit towards future class. Cancellations more than 30 days before the workshop begins, the participant will receive a 100% refund. Between 29-8 days before the workshop begins, the participant will receive a 50% refund. Within 7 days of the workshop, NO refund will be issued.
Food, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses are not included. NYC-SPC and the instructors are not responsible for reimbursing travel expenses in the event of a rescheduling or cancellation. We recommend that you purchase refundable air tickets and/or travel insurance.
