3 Day NYC workshop "Finding the light" with
May 24th, 25th, 26th.
Immerse yourself in this 3-day workshop focused on shooting in New York City after dark and learning to work with the cities artificial lights. This is a great opportunity to take time out of your busy schedule and focus on your love for street photography while getting your steps in. We will discuss techniques and approaches to working with difficult light as well as provide discussion, analysis, and critique of photographs. Workshop goals include:
Technical fundamentals of shooting in available light at night.
Creative approaches to composing night street photography.
Two core routes for shooting night photography in NYC.
What it means to “Go for it!”. Night photography is all about extending your work ethic in your photography.
Help you build a new network of fellow street shooters who can share genuine feedback and critiques well after the workshop is over.
Provide you with insight to develop your own approach and philosophy behind making photographs.
The schedule is as follows:
Friday, May 24th - 7pm-11pm: Meet and greet followed by shooting. Midtown/Time Square. Noho
Saturday, May 25th - 7pm-12am: Various technique overviews followed by shooting in LES/East Village.
Sunday, May 26th - 12pm-5pm: Editing session and group presentation. Laptop Required. Noho
This workshop is intended for photographers of all levels who are interested in walking outside and photographing people. It is expected that participants have some minimal amount of photography experience and are familiar with how to use their camera. Cameras will not be provided. Participants will be asked to submit 10 photos prior to starting the workshop. Submitting photographs are recommended but not required.
A laptop will be needed on Sunday for downloading images from your camera to edit and review.
Attendance is limited to 10 maximum.
Instructors: Chris Voss (www.chrisvossnyc.com) has been a member of NYC-SPC since the beginning. He moved to Brooklyn from Oakland, CA in 2013 to pursue his dream of shooting in the streets and spaces of NYC. He has an intense love for New York City and all who have roamed it with cameras before him.
Workshop Fee: $450
All major Credit Cards Accepted. Food, transportation, and accommodations are not included.
Cancellations: More than 30 days before workshop begins, participant will receive a 100% refund. Between 29-8 days before workshop begins, participant will receive a 50% refund. Within 7 days of workshop, NO refund.
NYC-SPC and the instructors are not responsible for reimbursement of travel expenses in the event of a cancellation. We recommend that you buy refundable air tickets and/or travel insurance.
