While most New Yorkers had their eyes pointed up at the sky watching the solar eclipse today, a group of photographers had theirs pressed on their viewfinders, documenting the people gathering in the streets and parks of the city.

While it's clear the eclipse has been widely covered, the work of the members of the NYC Street Photography Collective takes a different look at this historical event. The group unites some of the most talented street photographers in New York City, who are trained in capturing the in-between moments, the weird and the wacky, scenes that usually go unseen.
